After the Salon de Material de Art - Montreal!
Bonjour, mes amis! Cyle Thomas here, a goldsmith based in the beautiful city of Montreal.
I wanted to share with you all about my wonderful experience at the Salon de Material de Art Montreal 2022, which took place in December. It was an incredible opportunity to practice my French language skills, meet new friends, and connect with potential clients. I always enjoy attending events like this because they allow me to showcase my work and learn from other professionals in the industry.
After the salon was over, I took some time off to spend the holidays with my family. It was a much-needed break, and I cherished the time I was able to spend with my loved ones. But now, it's back to work in the new year.
In January, I returned to my workshop and began designing new and unique pieces of jewelry that showcase my signature style. I'm particularly excited about a new collection of reticulated quartz that my gem dealers at Rippana picked up from the Tucson Gem Show in February. These gems are absolutely stunning and look like golden rays of sun in a quartz matrix.
Let me describe a few of these gems for you. The first one I'm working with is a large, square reticulated quartz with a warm, golden hue. When the light hits it just right, it looks like it's glowing from within. Another piece I'm excited about is a smaller, round reticulated quartz with delicate lines of gold that look like rays of sunshine bursting from the center.
I also have a few pieces with unique shapes, like a triangular reticulated quartz with a subtle sparkle and a few round quartz with a swirling patterns of gold. Each piece is truly one-of-a-kind, and I'm excited to incorporate them into my designs.
Working with these gems has been a joy, and I'm thrilled to create jewelry that showcases their beauty. I'm experimenting with different settings and techniques to highlight their unique qualities, and I can't wait to see the finished pieces. Stay tuned for more updates on my new collection!
